COSMO PCR Hot Start Master Mix
The COSMO PCR Hot Start Master Mix is a ready-to-use solution that can be used for robust amplification up to 5 kb of genetic material from original template DNA. This mix contains all the necessary components required for a successful PCR, the only addition is the DNA template and primers. The reaction mix is already optimised for an efficient PCR and so generates long products at a higher yield whilst minimising contamination risk and the time taken to prepare a reaction. The hot start Taq polymerase ensures that non-specific amplification does not occur during PCR set-up.

This product contains the COSMO Hot Start Taq DNA Polymerase, optimised COSMO Taq RED buffer, MgCl2 and dNTPs.

Components of kit
COSMO Taq DNA Polymerase– a thermostable DNA polymerase used for the DNA synthesis.
COSMO buffer and ion solutions– Contains the optimal concentrations of (NH4)2SO4 and KCl. In addition to this it contains two tracking dyes for use in gel loading, and a density reagent. Buffered to 9 pH to maximise performance.
MgCl2– Within the RED buffer we have included MgCl2 as the polymerase requires Mg2+ cofactors to function. If the DNA template was extracted with chelating agents like EDTA additional Mg2+ ions are required to maintain the enzyme’s performance. We advise compensating for the chelated Mg2+ by adding 5 μl of 25 mM MgCl2.
dNTPs– Using HPLC analysis we have measured ≥99% purity of the dNTPs in our products to ensure maximum fidelity and speed.
Storage buffer– 20 mM 8.0 pH Tris buffer, 100 mM KCl, 0.1 mM EDTA, 1mM DTT and Glycerol. This solution is designed to minimise enzyme degradation during storage.
